Ice-cold in Alex - J. Lee Thompson (1958)

Alex is for Alexandria , once the city which held the biggest library of the world. Ice-cold is for the lager the heroes of the picture dreamed about along the adventure. Because this is an adventure film, a classic for saturday afternoons in TV. An ambulance (Katy) motoring through the desert in World War II. (Sir) John Mills is the captain and Silvia Syms is the nurse who falls in love with him. Quite usual as much in war as in peace times... only that in 1958 Mills was 50 and Silvia was 24. Anyway the love story is not really the bone of the movie (just an add-on). Some of the episodes appear to be naive nowadays, but in general it is an enjoyable story.
