Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu

First written in Chinese (Old Chinese, I suppose) some twenty-five centuries ago, the version I've actually read, one of the most acclaimed, is that of Ursula K LeGuin. She says this collectiom of cryptic poems is even funny. I guess it should be read several times and follow carefully Ursula's comments.
