An Odyssey - Daniel Mendelsohn

Two birds with one stone, something like that. Mendelsohn is a professor of classical literature and here he retells the Homeric poem and at the same time analyzes his father-son relationship (he is the son). It's amazing that so many years have passed and the facts of life are the same. Instructive and pleasant to read.
