Disgrace - J. M. Coetzee
Or how a man and a whole country go all the way down to hell. This is a Booker Prize winner and a brilliant chronic written as if it was a surgeon the one holding the pen. Life there and then was, and is I presume, just like this. As a matter of fact Coetzee left South Africa not so long after publishing the novel.
