According to Mark - Penelope Lively

Mark is the main character but not the narrator, so I find the title confusing. The story is interesting and the two females, Carrie and Diana, funny enough if somewhat quirky, but... there is a moment towards the last quarter of the novel when it becomes a fairly typical romance novel. Well written anyway
