Ruthie tells the story of the family. Grandma, aunt Sylvie and Lucille, her sister, are the main characters. And then there's the lake and the railroad bridge over the lake. The time is the fifties, we know for the books mentioned. Nearly a gothic tale, it seems there's some mental problem running in the family. Nice writing.
