O Pioneers! - Willa Cather

Pioneers in Nebraska around the turn of the century (that century, 120 years ago).  This is old good stuff, the same kind Austen, Bronte, James (Tolstói, Dickens, short names mostly) wrote in their time. The main character is Alexandra, a strong woman in a difficult world for females. You can breath the air of the different seasons in that once untamed land.
