The Nearest Thing to Life - James Wood
Art, in the original George Eliott's quotation, and literature in this book is that nearest thing. James Wood is a literary critic and an englishman in New York (or in America at least). This is a little essay about fiction. Literature is to tell about the details, those details that go unnoticed in everyday life. There is a final part about being away from home.
