Forty Stories - Donald Barthelme
Forty crazy stories, it could have been. Not for the theme but for the style. This is postmodernism or absurd or I really don't know what. I'm not that smart to understand them. There are pleasant enough texts here, and you can guess Barthelme can be brilliant but in the whole it seems you must have read thoughtfully Beckett, Joyce, Shakespeare and Sabatini (yes!) in order to be able to enjoy them.
