The Master of Petersburg - J. M. Coetzee

I came attracted by a promise of a biographical tale concerning Dostoyevsky and, well, there's something of that but not really. Two points I'd underline, the hard life of the humble in Russia and Coetzee's own pain (he lost a son as in the fiction of the novel). "Dense and difficult" as one critic wrote.
