Second one in the dance to the music of time, the roaring twenties in England. Young Nick Jenkins is there and takes part in a series of social events (ball parties, dinners). Or maybe we can say that he's a witness who tells about the life and manners of a bunch of people, all of them members of the british upper class  with the occasional nearby outsider. The style is pure british too: "Times had changed a lot, not always for the better".
