Middlemarch - George Eliot

"A study of provincial life" completes, more to the point, the title of one of the most praised novels ever written in english. By a woman it was, Mary Ann Evans, as you must know. I have felt amiss in some long paragraphs with strenuous reasons that I have not thoroughly understood, but mainly the novel is enjoyable, portraits acute and plot credible (the only "but" the character Raffles, that villain). A classic is a classic.
