White Noise . Don De Lillo

Postmodernist is said to be this novel. Maybe that means less plot and more situations. We've got here a portrait of nowadays America (meaning USA, 1985)) with its menaces for human life. Those include chemical spills, supermarkets, malls, some specialized studies and the "modern family" customary issues. Good level prose not for every taste.
