Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
Let it be my tribute in the second centenary of the author's birth. This is one of his last novels and a mature one, it's been said. Well, mature he was from the very beginning, I guess. One hundred and fifty years afterwards it's likeable all the same (considering nowadays' shortness of innocence). Characters and dialogues remarkably well composed. Humour, irony and good feelings all along. Two returning mottos; the "great expectations" of the title and the funny "portable property" in the mouth (the post box) of Mr Wemmick.
