A taste of life as it was in the southern United States almost a hundred years ago.

The Optimist's Daughter - Eudora Welty

Mount Salus is the fictional town in this Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and Jackson, Mississippi, the one behind it and the place where Welty was born. Half of the novel is based on the real life and family of the author and the other half on the people and society she knew. Well done dialogues, specially those involving Fay and her redneck family.

Léxico familiar - Natalia Ginzburg

La historia familiar de la autora a partir de sus recuerdos. Sus padres y hemanos sobre todo, pero también muchos amigos y conocidos. Ella misma casi se excluye, por desgracia para el lector. Entre todos suman casi el total de la resistencia antifascista de Turín y media Italia. El hilo conductor son los dichos familiares. Supongo que pierde sabor al no conocerlos de primera mano en italiano. 

Olive, Again - Elizabeth Strout

Olive Ketteridge becomes of old age. This collection of stories is a kind of second part of the previous one and continues to portray life in Crosby, Maine. The peculiar Olive is once again the central figure. Marriage, sons and daughters, in-laws, grief, old age and death are the issues that are touched. That is, life as Strout knows it. Very good writing if a bit depressing. 

Zoriontsuak izatea erabaki genuen - Mikel Ayllon

Eta ez dugu lortzen, nahi izatea ez baita nahikoa. Nolanahi ere saiatzea komeni da. Ayllonek badu dohain bat, kontakizuna atsegina egitearena, Horrela egiten du hemen, sei istorio hauetan. Hitzak bata bestearen atzetik jartzen ditu modu erakargarrian, irakurlearen gozamenerako.
