Tus pasos en la escalera - Antonio Muñoz Molina

Es bueno el de Úbeda (como dirían si fuera futbolista) y está en un periodo de gran fecundidad. La literatura le sale por las orejas. En esta novela casi lo de menos es la intriga de esos pasos, que se aclara al final, Lo gordo es la comparativa Nueva York - Lisboa, que incluye el atentado de las torres gemelas y un montón de agudas disquisiciones que nos llevan de la mano sin esfuerzo aparente.

Pulitzer prize in 2011, these are thirteen interrelated stories that happen along the last decades and even take a look into the near future. "Time is a goon" is one thesis of the book (my version: Time is a serial killer). The scenery is mainly New York, but we move also to other locations around the world. I had heard this novel was about the music business, I don't agree. There are some references to that matter, but the real thing here is life itself, human relantioships (and the passing of time).

Filek: El estafador que engañó a Franco - Ignacio Martínez de Pisón

Esto es más un trabajo periodístico que otra cosa. Se lee con agrado pero queda lejos de otros libros del autor. Me llama la atención la exhaustiva investigación realizada y que al final se sepa muy poco de la persona en sí. Me queda la impresión de que si Filek hubiera dedicado todos sus esfuerzos a alguna causa legal hubiera llegado a millonario.

Can You Ever Forgive Me? - Lee Israel

Unfortunately Lee Israel is not alive to take advantage of the fame the movie based on this book has brought up. Back in the nineties she didn't find a better way to survive than forge some hundred letters of Dorothy Parker, Noel Coward, Katharine Hepburn and other celebrities. A crime as beautiful as it could be, only in the reach of someone as talented as herself. She tells the story in a lived and sparkling way.

Will and his friend Hand have a go at a curious task: get rid of some 32.000 dollars (give, not spend) in a week-long trip around the world. Most of the novel is Will himself telling about the traveling and other previous events with an interlude (in New Zealand) with some explanations by Hand (a nickname). A road or buddy movie (meaning novel) and mainly a tale of grieving and search of meaning told in a refreshing, humorous way.
