Los culpables - Juan Villoro

Seis cuentos y una novela corta con el nexo de la culpabilidad, según la crítica. Personajes mexicanos que puedo suponer cercanos al autor, con parejas y ex-parejas sentimentales e inclinaciones artísticas. No me ha parecido que fueran historias fáciles de seguir.

Catch 22 - Joseph Heller

Highly appraised satirical anti-war novel based in the author's own experiences as a bombardier. The title alludes to a no-win situation; anything you do, you lose the same. This is the opposite of the usual american war movie featuring John Wayne. Everybody is crazy or looks crazy. Scoundrels are much more common than heroes.

Falcó - Arturo Pérez-Reverte

¿Alatriste en el siglo XX?. Un poco más desencantado y sin veleidades literarias, tal vez. Una aventura clásica de agentes secretos en los convulsos años treinta, concretamente en la guerra civil española. Ambientada con mimo y con los habituales diálogos plenos de ironía. Queda claro que buenos y malos hay en todas partes.

Staring At The Sun - Julian Barnes

Written some thirty years go, it's about the life of Jean Serjeant from her youth in the forties, and the war, till the future in 2020. Nowadays still the future but no longer so far away, and being the computer which knows it all actually meat and potatoes in our lives. A human life from innocence to a certain wisdom. Not that we learn too much anyway.

Elkarrekin esnatzeko ordua - Kirmen Uribe

Muscheren ildoan mugitzen den liburua, baina handiagoa zentzu guztietan. Batzutan "XX. mendeko Euskal Historia umeei kontatuta" moduko kontaera iruditu zait, hain xaloa da ta. Beste batzutan benetan fina agertzen da egoerak eta izaerak marrazten. Denbora latzak izan ziren, tristurarako aproposagoak beste ezertarako baino.

City on Fire - Garth Risk Hallberg

Garth took risks and wrote this ambitious, but somehow failed, first novel about New York in the seventies, blackout included. One point he probably has succeeded in: the attempt to use every single word in the Oxford  American Dictionary, or at least all the uncommon ones. I would say the prose is partly brilliant but confusing, and the story doubtful.
