The Uncommon Reader - Alan Bennett

Humorous novella with two dominant issues: The Queen and her pragmatic and sovereign ways and a praise of literature as one of the main sources we've got to learn and enjoy in life. A very plausible portrait of royal manners when Elizabeth begins reading seriously and  some consequences derive.

Here and Now - Paul Auster / John Coetzee

These are the letters Auster and Coetzee wrote each other from 2008 to 2011. Probably they knew they were writing for the public too. Both of them are true to themselves and give us some good samples of their prose. The themes are just those which appealed to them in the moment. Pleasant to read (well, they are two of my favourites).

The Piazza Tales - Herman Melville

This is a handful of short stories, including the famous Bartleby and the runner up Benito Cereno. Those two are actually the best ones. A pair of the others (The Piazza, The Bell Tower) are in excess symbolic, I haven't liked them. In "The Encantadas" we learn a series of stories or legends about those islands. There's one last "The Lightning-Rod Man" short and of no special interest.

Kristalezko begi bat - Miren Agur Meabe

Azken aldian Kirmen Uribek ekarritako kontatzeko eran idatzia dago liburu hau. Hau da, bere izaeran (Meibirena) oinarritua, nobela laburra sortu du egileak. Hiztegi aldetik gogorra irakurle ez-adituarentzat, poeta izanda hitz dirdiratsu asko erabiltzen baitu. Kontakizun ausarta barruko sentipenak azaltzerakoan. Pertsonaia biluzik agertzen da.
