Several short stories and a longer one (The Wild Goose) denounce the almost absolute power of the priests in Ireland during those years (around 1900). Their lively style makes them pleasant to read.

The Bee Sting - Paul Murray

A long and uneven novel that mixes quite a lot of topics, as family life, climate change, Irish society, romance, gender issues or crime. The writing is dynamic and effective. I haven't liked the sudden changes of thought, nor the trick of suppressing punctuation (it's a nightmare).
