From there she talks about the main milestones over time and then establishes her views on novel writing. The final part is dedicated to Proust.

"Dos historias de casadas" es el subtítulo de este novelón decimonónico realista y costumbrista que retrata la vida en Madrid en los años setenta del siglo XIX, con las abismales diferencias de clase entre burgueses adinerados y tipos populares que rondan la miseria. El estilo es bienhumorado y el reparto de personajes amplio. Mi favorita es Guillermina Pacheco, la santa.

I had read some of them before ("In Our Time") and must confess that I have not found anything remarkably new. The main objetive of his life is made clear: trout fishing. Telling things straight is the style.

The Ballad of the Sad Café - Carson McCullers

They have called her style Southern Gothic. To me she is a powerful writer. This novella tells us about some peculiar people in the Deep South. Loneliness and despair are there but despite that it is narrated with humor. Tragicomic maybe the word. Six other interesting stories complete the book.
