Fine collection of 37 short stories. "Dirty realism" or melancholic narrative of declining couples living in little towns, feeling mostly miserable and recalling from time to time those marvellous days when they were truly in love. Not anymore.

Una novela china - César Aira

¿Sabemos algo de los chinos?. Esta pequeña (por corta) novela china nos cuenta la vida de un peculiar chino. Un hombre que se convierte en experto de todo lo que toca y que también se interesa por el amor. Como  me suele pasar, si ésto es una alegoría, no la cojo del todo.

The Master of Petersburg - J. M. Coetzee

I came attracted by a promise of a biographical tale concerning Dostoyevsky and, well, there's something of that but not really. Two points I'd underline, the hard life of the humble in Russia and Coetzee's own pain (he lost a son as in the fiction of the novel). "Dense and difficult" as one critic wrote.

Cicatriz - Sara Mesa

Algo de amor puede que también haya en esta novela que cuenta una relación a distancia en los tiempos de las nuevas tecnologías. La narradora tira bien del hilo de la historia aunque es un poco lioso el ir y venir en el tiempo (una semana antes, tres años después...). Los peculiares personajes resultan de lo más humanos.

In Our Time - Ernest Hemingway

First collection of short stories by the author. Some of them about Nick Adams, an alter-ego. The narrative is vigorous and engaging. The themes masculine, the way is expected in Hemingway, with hunters, jockeys, soldiers, fishermen. Some bullfighting too, kind of exaggerated. Pleasant enough storytelling.

Mila ezker - Garbiñe Ubeda

Ezkertasunaren nondik norakoak. Saiakera txikia munduan izan diren ezker batzuen ohorez. Batzuen, zeren eta ezkerrak, eskuinak bezala, mota guztietakoak izan dira eta izaten dira. Hemen agertzen direnak jenioak izan omen dira. Ezkerrek zeozer berezia daukate burmuinean, edo gutxienez zeozer arraroa.
